Both thesis works have been performed at the Institute of Solid State Research of the Forschungszentrum Jülich (KFA) in Jülich/Germany (former name: Kernforschungsanlage Jülich GmbH) in the field of spin-resolved photoemission and included experimental as well as theoretical work. Part of the experimental work was done at the synchrotron radiation laboratories LURE of the University of Paris-South at Orsay/France and BESSY at Berlin, computational simulations were performed at the computer systems of the Forschungszentrum Jülich
